Super bug mission that I'm on isn't conducive to winter, there isn't many around. This is my first attempt at a bug macro (after doing the spiders).
I know this is boring to some but I love reading descriptions of macro shots and most users never write them:-
1. Tripod - Manfrotto tripod really pushed into the ground but was still tipping due to the silly angle, so I had to keep my foot on one of the legs
2. Lighting - It was daytime but the sun was setting so not much light.
3. The lens & settings - Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM. Bumped up the ISO to compensate for the lower light.
4. The model - A "Cotton Harlequin Bug" or "Hibiscus Harlequin Bug", a female I believe, a form of stinkbug. They feed on the juice from hibiscus and cotton. She was about 2cm long. These colours are real on this bug and very pretty.
they also love to eat citrus juces like kaffier limes ... there srsly the freaks of the bug kingdome ... Awesome shot I love how well the colours have shown up
